An approved growth precinct, City of Whittlesea · English Street PSP

Future plans

The gazetted precinct structure plan for English Street.

A precinct structure plan is the approved planning framework for a growth area. It sets where homes, streets, open space, schools and centres go before land is developed.

Deliverables

What the plan sets out for this precinct.

Drawn from the approved precinct structure plan. Numbers not restated by the Victorian Planning Authority are not shown.

New homes across the precinct

A residential neighbourhood built out in stages across approximately 140 hectares, with a mix of lot sizes and street types set by the plan.

Local town centre

A local centre for everyday shopping, services and community uses, to be delivered as the surrounding population grows.

School sites

Land set aside for government and non-government school sites within the precinct, subject to State delivery programs.

Conservation areas

Conservation and biodiversity areas as identified in the plan. See the official plan for the mapped extent and areas.

Open space and green spine

A connected network of local parks and open space linked to the Merri Creek corridor, with shared paths through the precinct.

Roads and connections

The English Street arterial through the precinct with connections to Donnybrook Road and the wider northern road network.

Indicative delivery

How a precinct like this comes together.

  1. Stage 1

    Enabling works

Servicing, drainage, road headworks and early civil construction across the first release areas.

  2. Stage 2

    First homes

Early residential stages settle and building begins, with temporary access and interim landscaping.

  3. Stage 3

    Town centre and schools

Local centre and school sites progress as household numbers reach the thresholds in the plan.

  4. Stage 4

    Maturing community

Open space network completed, streets planted out and remaining stages delivered.

Indicative sequencing only. Timing is set by developers, servicing authorities and State agencies.
